Final Survey Blog Post

1. Creating questions for this topic was a process of first identifying services used then narrowing questions down onto aspects of the services.
2. The differences between the surveys in my group was just the questions, the general content was the same.
3. The demographic questions helped because they showed the answers for a specific age group of people from 16-21.
4. Yes, the survey was able to identify a specific type of movie that people enjoy.
5. I got 19 responses.
6. I believe a good task for the Apprentice would be related to marketing an object somehow.

Nintendo case study

Item 1
This study was about Nintendo's attempts to keep up with competing companies. They were failing in the market due to their focus on a younger audience. They are now focusing on more action oriented games. Nintendo still dominates the handheld gaming market but is losing out to Microsoft and Sony when it comes to online gaming consoles. The primary product competition comes in the form of the PS2 and the Xbox. Nintendo is trying to get back into dominance with new generations of games and consoles.

Item 2
This is a unit 1 chapters 1-2 case study.
  • Consumers: Nintendo is trying to both get more consumers and please their already loyal consumers by pursuing a different target market.
  • Product: Nintendo's products are its handheld gaming devices and gaming consoles.
  • Promotion: Nintendo has to promote its new products to the target audience they want to sell to. This could be through ads on several platforms of media such as TV ads.
  • Revenue: Nintendo needs to generate more revue to remain competitive in their market.
  • Consumer Loyalty: It is expected that the consumers who are loyal to Nintendo will continue to buy from Nintendo.
Item 3
An example of a performance enhancing drug being allegedly used is the accusation of Peyton Manning using the drug HGH in order to boost his performance on the football field. This is highly controversial especially because of Peyton's status in the NFL and how he is so accomplished,

Marketing Mix Applied

My business would be focused on sporting equipment. My marketing mix would be very promotion focused. Nike is a competitor. Their products cover a wide range from clothing to sports equipment. My products would be less clothing focused and more sporting equipment based. This is bad due to the limited market that would be targeted in comparison to competitors. The price of Nike products is competitive and of a premium status. My pricing would be less competitive and more realistic in order to receive more business. This is bad due to the idea that at a lower price comes a poorer quality. Nike products can be found all around the world. My products would be locally distributed. This is bad due to the limited influence the company would have. Nike's promotion is very expansive. My promotions would be billboards and radio ads focused more on a local target market.

Boston Olympics

Boston was recently given the opportunity to host the 2024 Summer Olympic games. The bid was eventually turned down due to many problems faced by the city in light of preparations. The Olympics in Boston is simply unrealistic. The idea of the Olympics in Boston is not a good one because of the already congested city and sub par infrastructure. I believe that this is a good idea because the city would most likely be hurt by the games. There is no room for all of the new venues that would have to be constructed. The city would destroy itself through debt and destruction of already thriving establishments. Also, many of these new venues would go unused after the games, further worsening the situation. The Olympics in Boston is a bad idea and it is good that the bid has been denied.
